Film Bricks is an ongoing sculptural installation that features 25 transparent resin bricks each with a single slide of film negative encased in the middle. In this piece the dichotomy of preservation and destruction is called into question. The act of photographing is to preserve memories: to render the intangible tangible; the process of encasement disrupts this fundamental function. While the physical is preserved; the memory, no longer being accessible, is potentially destroyed as one can no longer revisit it.
